50/50 is a really really good movie. I put this at the beginning for those who are too lazy to read the rest. Just to make sure you remember this one sentence
:)
The story is quite simple. A 20something guy is working at a radio station, together with his best and a little bit crazy friend. He lives a perfectly normal life. He has a relationship that is
not always going well, he makes sport, is not smoking nor drinking and his mum is always worried about him. He just has this pain in his back. As it turns out to be a seldom spine cancer his
whole life is turned upside down. His chances of survival are 50/50.
And since it is a major Hollywood production you could think: 'Really? She is recommending such a Cheesy-Already-Seen-It-Happy-Ending-True-Story-Shit??' Yes, I do recommend it -strongly! And the
reason is: it is nothing like this! It is based on a true Story. But the clue is that it is the story of the guy that actually wrote the screenplay. He is a longtime friend of Seth Rogen who is
playing the best friend of the main character in the movie! It must have helped him to play this character and that is what the audience sees. It is very moving. And if you are around your 30ies
you will find a little bit of yourself in this movie. It is not only about a guy and his cancer. It is about life. About the decision of how we want to live our life. What is really
important?
This movie is really touching and funny at the same time. And yes, there is also a love story (come on it is Hollywood!). But, (there is always a but isn't it?) luckily the Team refused to end
the movie with a kiss (apparently the production company asked for it).
To sum this up for you without putting more buts in my sentences: The Actors are amazing in this really well written tragicomedy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt proved his acting skills in other popular
movies like 500 Days of Summer and Inception, and he is getting better by the moment. Seth Rogen is really funny without being annoying like –let us face it- he sometimes can be and Anna Kendrik
actually looks prettier than ever before (I know it is a girly thing to say and it has nothing to do with the quality of this movie, but what is wrong with a compliment from time to time?). Go
and see this movie!
